TVA recently provided consultancy expertise to Langvad Arkitekter in connection with the design, construction documentation, and construction supervision og three new biotech/laboratory projects: Novo-Nordisk Building 1T, DTU Relocation of Lindholm Laboratories, and Cobis Stage 2 Biotech Center.

I spent three wonderful weeks this winter in sunny Palm Springs, California supervising the completion of the Rasmussen/Benzler Residence (see preliminary completion photos under Residential Projects) and researching for yet another article for Arkitekten, a critical journal for Danish architects. The article covers the history of this unique, architectural oasis, and features an engaging interview with local architects Donald Wexler FAIA, a Palm Springs icon, and Lance O'Donnell AIA of O2 Architecture. The article is due to come out later this spring. More news to follow...

TVA has commenced work on exhibition renovations to The Modern Collection at Denmark's Frederiksborg Castle, in joint venture with Hoffgaard Arkitekter. This prestigious project includes the design of new freestanding exhibition walls, display cases, and podiums, as well as a new state of the art lighting system within ornate, historic spaces on approximately 800sm of the third floor of the castle. I was very honored to be asked by the editors at Arkitekten to review "New Nordic - Architecture and Identity" at the famed Louisiana Museum of Modern Art here in Denmark. One of the largest and most comprehensive architectural exhibitions of Nordic architecture ever, the exhibition was curated around three fundamentally Nordic themes: Reassessing the Site Specific, Reinterpreting Community, and Reclaiming Public Space. The article can be found in Arkitekten no. 8, August 2012.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing one of my personal architectectural heroes for an article for Arkitekten, a critical journal for Danish architects.  Mr. John Pawson is a renowned English minimalist architect and author.   Our two hour meeting was extremely inspirational, spanning topics from the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi to metaphysical experience of minimalist space.  The interview and article can be found in Arkitekten no. 1, January 2012. In keeping with our overall design philosophy, the design of the website is simple, elegant, functional, and hopefully a pleasure to peruse.  Please take time to “look around”!  I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the website project.  We had a great collaboration with Jian Gu of GU DESIGN in Stockholm, who did a wonderful job as web designer for the site.

This extensive remodeling project features a high degree of custom detailing and built-in furniture.  The clients are looking forward to seeing their dream come to life, and I look forward to presenting photographs of the completed project on our website.  This is our third project and second house with Henrik Rasmussen and Bruce Benzler, and I am very grateful for all of our enjoyable collaborations and ongoing friendship.  Please check back to see photographs of the completed project.

I recently completed a period of consultancy for Jørn Langvad Arkitekter here in Denmark, where I functioned as project architect in developing the construction and bidding documents for Cobis Etape 2 - a new 7,000 sm bio-research building in Copenhagen. The project was completed on time, and the team had a great time working together.

I continue to provide occasional freelance consulting services to Dissing+Weitling architecture, most recently as project designer and coordinator for the prestigious Al Sowwah Vernacular Competition in Abu Dhabi. The project included designs for 13 new bridges and a series of multi-functional, artificial islands around Al Sowwah Island.

Our most recently completed project in the United States, the Petersen/Verwers Residence in San Francisco, has been published in Contemporary House Design, a new book highlighting some of the best new modern residences around the globe. This was a very personal project, much of which was built with my own hands. We are honored to have yet another project published featured in an international publication.
